These terms govern your use of WebToAPI (webtoapi.net) and the WebToAPI Chrome extension.

1. The service

WebToAPI lets you select elements on a public web page and turns those selections into a REST endpoint that returns their current values as JSON. Our servers read the source page on your behalf, so the endpoint keeps working when your browser is closed.

We provide the service as it is. We do not guarantee that a given source page will remain readable: site owners change layouts, add bot protection or remove content at any time, and any of these will break an API you created.

2. Your account

An account is created from your email address. You are responsible for keeping access to that mailbox and for keeping your API keys secret. Anyone holding a key can read the data that API returns.

We show each API key exactly once. We store only a SHA-256 hash of it and cannot recover the original.

3. Acceptable use

You may not use WebToAPI to:

  • read pages you are not permitted to access, including anything behind someone else's login;
  • collect personal data about individuals without a lawful basis;
  • circumvent a site's technical access controls, rate limits or bot protection;
  • place load on a third-party site beyond what a normal visitor would cause;
  • reproduce or redistribute content in a way that infringes copyright or database rights.

We honour robots.txt: if a site disallows our crawler for a page, we refuse to create an API for it.

4. Your responsibility for scraping

You choose which pages to read and which elements to extract. You are solely responsible for ensuring that doing so is lawful in your jurisdiction and compatible with the source site's terms. We act on your instruction and identify ourselves with the user agent described on our bot page.

If a site owner asks us to stop reading their site, we may disable the affected APIs without notice.

5. Plans, billing and cancellation

The free plan places no limit on how many APIs you create. Each free API stays live for 7 days from its creation and then returns HTTP 410.

The Pro plan costs 19.95 USD per month, billed through PayPal, and removes the expiry date from every API on your account. It renews automatically until you cancel.

We are a small business under § 19 of the German VAT Act (Kleinunternehmerregelung), so no VAT is charged and none is shown separately on your invoice. The price above is the total you pay.

You can cancel at any time from your PayPal account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period; we do not pro-rate partial months. When a subscription ends, your APIs are not deleted — they revert to the free plan's 7-day lifetime.

If a payment fails three times in a row, the account returns to the free plan.

6. Refunds

If you are a consumer in the EU or UK you have a statutory right of withdrawal within 14 days of a purchase. Beyond that, contact support@webtoapi.net and we will consider refund requests case by case.

7. Data retention

An expired API is kept for 30 more days so that upgrading to Pro brings it back with the same endpoint and key. After 30 days it is deleted permanently, and we email you three days before that happens.

8. Availability and liability

We do not promise a specific uptime. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the service.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, loss of profits, or loss of data arising from use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent, gross negligence, injury to life or body, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law.

9. Termination

You may delete your APIs and stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches section 3, with notice where practicable.

10. Changes and governing law

We will announce material changes to these terms by email at least 14 days before they take effect. German law applies, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence.
